Cowboy Pillows

Here's another project in the works!  My daughter showed me a pinterest post of some pillowcases that were embroidered with a boy on one and a girl on the other and there were hearts and kisses involved.

                                                               Cutest. Pillowcase. Ever.

So, to go with the southwest blanket I am making a cowboy version!  I'm using some tracing paper, which is an awesome product.  You can design your own embroidery design and it washes out when you are finished.  I drew on the first character - a cute cowboy!  The lighting in the photo is the pits, but you get the idea.
I decided that I am going to have to trace some of it, embroider and then trace some more of the design because it does try to smudge off.  It should be pretty awesome!  I hope...

Southwest Blanket Progress

This blanket just keeps growing and growing!  Our bed is a queen size so I knew it was going to be a lot of work and crampy hands, but man, it is a lot of work!  Its getting to the hard to turn stage when I have to start the next row.  However, it is coming along nicely and quite speedily much to my hands chagrin.

7 Days of...JOY!

Day 5

For His anger is but for a moment,
His favor is for life;
Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning
Psalms 30:5

Once we chose God we are his forever.  We may get lost; we may wander, but He will always call to us.  His favor is for life.  We will make mistakes.  We will disappoint him with some of our decisions; we will sin.  But, as our Father, he does not stay angry.  He forgives us so that we can start a new day with a joyful heart.  A heart focused on Him.

7 Days of...JOY!

Day 4

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith - the salvation of your souls
I Peter 1:6-9

Life is hard.  I know I have been through some hard times. And I am sure you have too. We all have trials.  That's just the way it goes.  But with faith we know that God is in control and will do what is best for us.  Maybe not what we want, but he does what we need.  Knowing that gives me joy.  And knowing that he loves us so much that he sent Jesus...well, that is an amazing gift that fills my heart.  How can we not be joyful when we really think about what God does for us?  So next time that life throws a good old mess of horribleness at me I am going to think about that.  Think about God's grace, the gift of Jesus, the sacrifice he made for us - and I will rejoice and have joy because even though I might have a snag in my life, he has already taken care of the big important stuff.

Crochet Project - Southwest Colors

So, I have been working on a blanket for my bed. The colors are a beautiful teal, burnt pumpkin, tan and a rich chocolate brown.  I didn't really have a pattern when I started. I don't do well reading crochet patterns. I get really frustrated and it never really looks right. So I decided to do some stripes and add some texture by simply crocheting into the back stitch only.

I worked on the blanket while I was at work because, well, I'm a nurse who works at night and patients sleep at night. I got several rows done.  When I went out to my car this morning I noticed that I needed a new tire. I pass a Walmart on my way home every morning and I was pretty sure the car would make it there.  So while I waited I went to McDonald's, got a Dr. Pepper and pulled out my crocheted project. Nothing says cool like crocheting at McDonald's!
