Pioneer Plaza - Dallas, Texas

Back from vacation, which my husband and I have named the Taste of Texas Tour.  We were supposed to do packed snacks and camp cooking, but it was just so hot that we never wanted to stand over a camp stove :)

The longhorn herd was great!  They were super huge!

Herded down the hill.

I made the skirt the day before we left.  Very basic, but a cute retro cowboy print.
Me being a dork - I think the longhorn agreed...
All of the pieces were so detailed.  It was really incredible.

Pioneer Plaza was our first stop on our little road trip.  It had been a long while since I was in downtown Dallas.  We stopped around noon-thirty and walked around the plaza.  There were lots of folks out taking photos in the scorching heat, but it was a lot of fun.
The girls seemed to enjoy it except that they were hot and hungry.  They were pretty good sports about taking the pictures - they know how I am with my camera ;)
I definitely recommend going during the day.  I'm used to a bigger downtown area, but there were some 'shady' looking people around.  I did see security riding around in a little golf cart looking vehicle.  Mr. Harris pointed out a guy who was watching people and just didn't look like he was there for the art or an afternoon picnic.  I didn't ever feel unsafe, but at night it might be another story.  I've been wanting to go see the plaza for a while and I totally wasn't disappointed :)

I sewed my first pair of shorts.  I'm not a fan of zippers or buttons.  I have become quite fond of elastic and comfort.  However, all of the elastic waist denim shorts are quite, ummm, not attractive.  My family is getting ready take a camping vacation and I desperately needed some shorts.  I have one pair down and two to go.  I also wanted to whip up a skirt or two.  We leave next thursday so I guess I better get to it!

The ghostly white legs, well, I guess I'll have to work on that :)
