Road Trip Planning!

planning road trips!

I feel like planning one to go see Texas the Musical!  It is up at Palo Duro Canyon State Park, which I have never been to, but the photos are amazing!

I think we will go up through Ft. Worth and see the historic Stockyards.  You can take a picture on a live longhorn and watch a very tame longhorn cattle drive.  There are lots of cowboy museums and I am sure I'll find a great steak house for dinner there!

I am super excited about the musical!  I'm trying not to watch too many clips because I don't want to spoil anything.  I have heard that it is amazing and the outdoor rock theater is beautiful.

At some point there will be some camping at Garner and some swimming in the Frio, which will feel so good during the hot Texas summer.  I can't wait to see the dance that they have at night!  After that maybe some shopping in Fredericksburg and possibly hit the outlet in San Marcos and who knows what else along the way!

Clearing Out the Clutter!

My life is filled with too much stuff!  Clothes nobody wears, shoes that don't have mates, toys no one plays with...Just too much!  I have to start going through things.  Going through my life.  Clearing out the clutter in my house, in my body and in my heart.

This morning I am going to get together my first assortment and take it to our local Goodwill donation center.  I'll post a list and maybe some photos of things I find to donate that someone else needs, could use or just wants!

Thankful Thursday

I've been feeling a bit blah of late.  I can't quite put my finger on it.  I probably need to just do something.  Maybe I just need a dose of Thankful Thursday!

• I am thankful for my local Humane Society who will treat my puppy's heartworms for SEVERAL hundred dollars cheaper than the price the vet quoted me!
• I am thankful for the sound my bulldog makes when he tries to bark.
• I am thankful that I have a job where I work with some of my best friends.
• I am thankful that I signed up for the flexable spending account at work this year.
• I am thankful for cherry chapstick!
• I am thankful for swimming pools in the summer!

I've been reading a little bit of Dr. Phil online.  I've been suffering a bit from post traumatic heartbreak.  There was a great quote on his site about healing - "Time doesn't heal.  It's what you do with that time that makes the difference."

  I have been spending most of my 'healing' time just sitting here waiting for time to heal me.  This quote really made sense.  I need to do something.  During my 'healing' time I have packed back on some forty-five pounds and have lost my confidence and my real identity.  He had a section called self matters that talks about the fictional self and the authentic self.  I think somewhere I have lost a bit of my true self, which might be why I get stuck in the yucky place.

  I think I really miss the 'authentic' me.

Lost and Found

My chihuahua has been found.  She was in the garage the whole time!  In the Texas heat, not a good thing!  She has had a horrible cough since her return so I took her to the vet yesterday.  Two hundred and sixty-two dollars later I found out she has heartworms.  She needs an ultrasound of her heart, which will run anywhere from four to six hundred and then start treatment for another seven hundred and fifty!  Yikes!  I emailed a vet at the Human Society to see it they will treat it for less.  I would much rather do that and make a nice donation to them.  She is on an antibiotic for some lung inflammation and an oral steroid.  They called it in to a regular pharmacy and the great people there flavored both like chicken!  She is not a fan, but she has to take both for three weeks!

No News Is Not Good News

Put up all of my signs today and no call about Brisby.  I even made magnet signs like business advertisements and put those on my car.

I so hope tomorrow we hear something!

Missing Chihuahua

I think someone has stolen my chihuahua, Brisby.  She was in the backyard on Monday.  I couldn't find her on Tuesday.  The pound doesn't have her and she still hasn't come home.  She has taken off one time before, but she came back within 24 hours.  My heart is so sad.  I hope she comes home.  We're making signs tomorrow after I get off work and posting them and taking them to the vet offices.

My Nana and Grandpa

My grandparents...the greatest grandparents in the world!

They have been there for me and our whole family.  My Grandpa served in the Navy during WWII.  He was a volunteer for the first Navy Seal class.  Back then it was called Amphibious Scouts.  My Nana is a wonderful cook, don't even get me started about her dressing for Thanksgiving and Christmas!  They are great role models for our generation.
